There’s no shortage of news articles, books, movies, and documentaries about the JFK assassination. But nothing compares to experiencing the events where they actually unfolded. Dive into the heart of history with our self-guided tour, meticulously crafted to be informative, enjoyable, and entertaining.
- Starting Point: Begin your journey at the iconic John Neely Bryan Cabin, nestled in the heart of Dallas. This historical site holds immense significance as it marks the city’s origins.
- Dealey Plaza: Dealey Plaza is the civic center of Dallas and was known as the “front door” to the city prior to Kennedy’s arrival in 1963. The presidential motorcade was driving through the crowd-lined plaza when shots were fired. It has since become a National Historic Landmark.
- The Grassy Knoll: As shots rang out in Dealey Plaza, a reporter riding in the motorcade filed a dispatch saying police thought the gunfire came from the right rear of the president’s limo, “probably from a grassy knoll” to which police rushed.
- Zapruder Film: The 26-second film shot by Abraham Zapruder is often regarded as the most famous home movie in history. It captures the entire assassination and provides crucial evidence. Zapruder sold the rights to “Life” magazine but did not want the film to be exploited.
- The Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza: Located in the Texas School Book Depository, it provides historical context for the events of November 22, 1963, and the aftermath of the assassination. Admission to the museum exhibit is not included int the tour.
- Ending Point: John F. Kennedy Memorial Plaza: A poignant tribute to the late President John F. Kennedy.
